Trails without Borders
An eldorado for cross country skiers – Cross country skiing across the Czech border.
The Bavarian Forest has long been a popular destination for cross country skiers. But skiers can also cross the border into the Czech Republic.
Since 1990 it has been possible to follow the trails into the former prohibited area at Haidmühle, Bischofsreut, Finsterau and Ferdinandsthal. Where there used to be barriers marking the border, well cleared trails now make it easy to cross. It is essential to carry proof of identity to enjoy skiing without borders.
The cross country skier will find nature and peace. Winter sport conditions in the area are ideal.
