Children’s Events

Kinderland Bayern Logo

Many places organise a special holiday programme for children, with and without their parents. The bear certainly works hard to make things fun for children:

Kinderprogramm Bärenspass im Kinderland

Kinder am Fluss in der Nationalparkregion

Paint fantastic designs on glass or go on a treasure hunt for precious stones, research the bed of a gurgling stream with a magnifying glass, boots and a genuine National Park ranger, climb a dizzy making church tower with a children’s village walk or crawl underground in the workings of a mine, at storytime listen to tales to make you gasp, laugh and shiver – everything is possible!

Bayerisch Eisenstein

Once a year, there is a big children’s day - the Tourist-Info in Bayerisch Eisenstein can tell you the date.

Freyung

Creative workshops for children of 6-12 years in the holiday kindergarten in Freyung – every Friday from 14.00 until 16.00. While parents have peace and quiet to do their shopping, go for a coffee or a walk, experienced carers make sure that your children do not get bored. Every week there is a different theme: a Mini Playback Show, town rally or cowboys & Indians, nobody will get bored. The activities are free of charge with your tourist card.

Grafenau

Every year on the 2nd Sunday in August there is a  big programme for families with children, with a varied programme of games and fun. On various ‚Robin Hood’ days during the year, children, young people and adults have a chance to try out archery and can also learn how to make arrows and other items during the 2 day event. Every year in August there is a circus week – with juggling, acrobatics and activities such as mono-cycling on the programme. In the summer months, the Touris Information organises a weekly children’s programme: as well as a visit to a farm and to play mini golf, there are also activities such as panning for gold or searching for fresh water pearls in the Ohe river.

Hohenau

The traditional Whitsuntide weekend fest takes place every year on the village square in Hohenau. The traditional Whitsuntide Church Festival takes place on Whit Monday, also in Hohenau. The whole weekend offers a variety of things for children – events they can join in with.

Lindberg

The visitors’ centre "Haus zur Wildnis" with its animal enclosures and stone age caves offers exciting discoveries for old and young. A circular walk passes the wild horses, ancient oxen, wolves and lynx and more surprises await in the ‚Root’ path and in the 3-D cinema, an afternoon which appeals to all the senses.

Mauth

At the Open Air Museum in Finsterau children will find lots to interest them: watching the blacksmith and the woodworkers or letting off steam in the playground (there is even a covered playground for wet weather). In summer, every Tuesday is children’s baking day at the museum – from 9.00 to 12.00 children can learn everything there is to know about baking bread. First the grain is ground by hand, then the dough is mixed and kneaded, and then it is wait, wait, wait. Everyone gets a piece of dough and can make it into whatever shape they want – roll, pretzel, heart, flower...there is no limit to a child’s creativity.

Neuschönau

Special ‘bear’ offers invite families to spend their holidays in Neuschönau. Play cowboys and Indians, or spend a wild week in the snow? The Tourist-Info in Neuschönau has details of themes and dates.

Rinchnach

Children (from 7 to 14 years) can help out as ‚apprentices’ on various farms in Rinchnach. After 5 days, the young trainee farmers take a test at the town hall and receive the ‚Small Rinchnach Farmer Diploma’".

In the summer holidays, Rinchnach also offers a varied programme for children from 6 years.

Spiegelau

With the motto "Understanding Nature through Play" the Forest Playground at Spiegelau offers play and nature for the whole family. Nature can be experienced with all the senses along the 2 kilometre nature trail. Regular guided tours are also available.

Zwiesel

Zwiesel offers for children a swimming pool with sandy beach, volleyball and children’s pools, an adventure playground in the town park and, in summer, children’s activities several times a week.
