Region

The Bavarian Forest is known as the „Green Roof of Europe“ – approximately 70% is covered with forests. Dark lakes and thick forests give the region an air of mystery, confirmed in many tales and legends.

 The „Waidler“, as the people of the forest call themselves, are down-to-earth and sometimes taciturn but always sincere. If you look down from one of the mountains out across the rolling hills, the little villages and hamlets and the few small towns lie scattered as if thrown from a box of toys into the river valleys between the massive sweeps of forest.

Gently rolling ranges of forested mountains swing inexorably upwards from the Danube to the highest point, the border with Czech Republic.
