Many local cooks use the best beef, lamb and pork from the region, trout and pike-perch from their own streams and juicy fruit and vegetables from farm gardens.

Nearly every town and village has a small brewery with its own specialities. There are local producers of fruit brandies and the famous Bärwurz schnaps. There are also smoked specialities, sweet forest fruits and dried Bavarian Forest mushrooms to take home to enjoy. Guten Appetit !
